Learning Tools

Kurzweil 3000 learning software is now available to all American University students, staff, and faculty.  Kurzweil 3000 is a multi-sensory learning tool with a suite of powerful reading, writing, and study features that makes curricula accessible for all students.  Kurzweil allows users to upload a variety of file formats to hear text read aloud, annotate within a document, export notes and highlights to create study guides, and map ideas with graphic organizers and template outlines.

Kurzweil 3000’s research-based solutions can facilitate learning for all students and have proven to be especially beneficial for students with learning differences, English Language Learners, and non-traditional students returning to school after several years of not being in a classroom.

With a Kurzweil 3000 license, students also have access to the Read the Web Chrome or Firefox extension.  This online tool allows students to have online course syllabi, discussion forums, required readings, email, and websites read aloud right within their browser.
